Model student uses precious time productively
Tulipmania experience
Curious about how many young girls wearing black jeans and blazers serve as ushers or facilitators at the Gardens By the Bay’s “Tulipmania Inspired” exhibits, SchoolNetwork correspondents approached one of them who happens to be entering the Temasek Polytechnic this coming school term. Her name is Zu Shin, an 18-year old Singaporean Permanent Resident who hailed from Malaysia. Zu Shin is waiting for the start of her school opening to take up veterinary medicine at Temasek Poly. She has been studying in Singapore since secondary school, and she loves it here.
Asked why she is serving as an usher-facilitator at the Gardens By The Bay (GBTB) flower dome, she exclaimed that she likes working parttime because she finds many friendly people at her age to be doing the same. She loves to be with friends and is happy to be part of something that delights tourists.

Gardens By The Bay is a tourist attraction in Singapore that showcases many species of flowers and varieties of plant and trees meticulously selected, carefully transported, and imported to Singapore from all over the world. There are two remarkably designed architectures that have become a major part of the Singapore skyline. These are the two domes that also highlight the technological wonders of the experts at the Singapore Tourism Board. But that is an entirely different story.
Back to Zu Shin, she shared with the SchoolNetwork correspondents about her personal thoughts on things. The interview with her will be featured in the next article here in SchoolNetwork. In a nutshell, Zu Shin is an example of an industrious young student in Singapore who knows how to not only earn a few pocket money to support her studies but also learn from the experiences she encounters while answering the questions of visitors to the flower dome and attending to their needs during their visits. Her parents undoubtedly must be very very proud of her.
From the SchoolNetwork team, thank you for warming our hearts, Zu Shin!

Zu Shin is a model student who uses her time wisely by facilitating at the Tulipmania flower exhibits
The Tulipmania Inspired flower exhibition has been running since 1st April 2017 and can still be viewed at the GBTB until 7th of May 2017. It is part of the regular changing of flower themes at the flower dome that entice tourists both local and foreign to frequent GBTB.
“See art blossom before your eyes as Gardens by the Bay takes inspiration from one of the Netherland's most celebrated artists, Vincent van Gogh, in this year's Tulipmania Inspired. Be enthralled as Flower Dome transforms into a floral gallery where Van Gogh's self-portrait and famed art piece "The Starry Night" come to life with the vivid hues of tulips. More than 100 varieties of tulips and hyacinths - including Darwin hybrid tulips often appreciated for their large blooms - will be on display in a palette of colours.” (sic, Tulipmania Inspired at the GBTB website)

Enormous surge of people at the Padang endured 6 to 8 hours of waiting in queue to pay their last respects to the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.
Condolence cards expressing sincere gratitude are posted on the walls leading to the Parliament House where the remains of the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew lies in state.
